We are currently accepting resumes for experienced Tankerman living in the San Francisco Bay area for long term, shore-based employment. The San Francisco Bay Area Tankermen represents the company as the first line supervisor and is in charge of operations for Sause Bros. owned or operated barges while moored at docks or terminals for loading and discharging of cargo. The San Francisco Bay Area Tankermen work in close cooperation with local ILWU crews, terminal personnel, regulatory agency personnel, and customer representatives to complete loading and discharging of cargo in a safe and efficient manner within local, state, and federal regulations and company operational guidelines. Requirements Job Requirements Efficiently transfer cargo between Sause Bros. owned vessels to customer facilities or vessels with personnel safety, safety of equipment, and protection of cargo and environment as highest priority. Responsible for all barge systems, equipment, and vessels to be secure for sea, prior to departure from any port. Learn to completely operate all barge machinery and electronic systems to include skilled use of barge computers. Coordinate pre-operational safety meetings with all appropriate personnel to cover operational, emergency, Safety and environmental conditions prior to commencing operations. Responsible for the use, cleaning, maintenance, stowage, and accountability of all SBI stevedoring equipment, including stowage of barge lashing gear in the barge gear box. Process all barge documentation and paperwork within 24 hours of completed operations. Maintain an inventory of all essential documents, forms, and supplies. Maintain the housekeeping of the pier and facility, and make sure they are kept orderly and organized. Investigate and complete all forms relating to incidents, accidents, property damage, SQE’s, near misses and environmental damage as they occur. Report immediately to Cargo Operations Management. Follow operating procedures as outlined in the Barge Operations section of the SMS. Implement, enforce and follow all company Safety Management System (SMS) policies, procedures and guidelines as outlined in the Safety Management System Manual as well as applicable state and federal regulations. Generate recommendations to Cargo Operations Management for revisions in the Safety Management System (SMS) annually. Contact and notify company management as soon as possible by notifying the on-duty dispatcher when serious accidents, property damage, or environmental damage occurs. Maintain current certifications of all required endorsements for licensing (HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, Driver License, Merchant Mariner Credential with Tankerman endorsement, TWIC card). Perform, complete and document in the company electronic database all maintenance necessary to equipment upkeep including but not limited to oil changes, greasing, calibrations, and completion of necessary documents related to our tank barge and other operations as assigned. Communicate necessary barge work and maintenance lists to Cargo Operations Management to ensure machinery is maintained in good working order. Maintain company vehicles and company lift trucks in good clean condition and working order. Assist company mechanic to maintain all company equipment in safe working order. Follow the company guidelines in completing expense account reports for monthly processing. Other duties as assigned. Previous barge operations experience with current Tankermen’s (PIC Barge) endorsement is preferred. Have the ability to complete the on-the-job training program to bring potential supervisors to a full operating standard.
