Position: Manager – Safety and Compliance Department: Operations Location: Longview / US West Coast Manager/Supervisor Title: Operations Director FLSA status: Exempt Type: Full-time Compensation: Competitive salary, dependent upon qualifications and experience Purpose of the job: Support vessel operations by ensuring compliance with Safety and USCG regulatory programs, both personnel and vessels. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Acts in the capacity of Designated Person Ashore (DPA) per 46 CFR, ensuring the company’s compliance with USCG subchapter M. 2. Acts in the capacity of Designated Employee Representative (DER) per 46 CFR, ensuring compliance with random drug and alcohol testing programs. 3. Works with other company leaders in Operations, Engineering, and Finance to ensure vessel regulatory compliance and budgeting. 4. Directs overall vessel documentation and employee certification tracking programs, delegating portions thereof to other support staff as necessary. 5. Maintains the company’s Towing Vessel Management System (TSMS) document, including leading annual reviews, document edits and updates in response to changing regulations, feedback from maritime employees, etc. 6. Administer employee Safety training programs by managing the tracking of periodic training, reporting to Port Captain and Port Ship Assist managers on work group/individual progress toward annual goals. 7. Leads the organization of compliance audits, both internal and external as related to Subchapter M. 8. Acts as the backup to the Port Captain
