Port Engineer, New Orleans General Information Job Title:Port Engineer Location:1 Walnut Street New Orleans, LA, 70118 United States Employee Type:Exempt Minimum Experience:5 Years Description E. N. Bisso is adding a Port Engineer to our team. This position will ensure the engineering needs for all assigned vessels and related equipment are timely and efficiently met. This position will be based out of the New Orleans location and support operations from Louisiana to Florida. Expectations for this position include: Effectively perform repairs and upgrades to engineering machinery and equipment in accordance with company and regulatory standards Successfully manage all Engineering team members on assigned vessels- including hiring, training, performance management, discipline, and terminations Work effectively with other Port Engineer and Port Captain team members to continually develop and maintain effective processes and procedures related to vessel engineering matters Effectively manage, plan, and organize day-to-day Maintenance & Repair activities Regularly and accurately monitor, maintain, and update Engineering related work orders in designated tracking system Efficiently, effectively, and timely complete work orders for assigned vessels Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose all mechanical/electrical systems issues on assigned vessels Maintain needed inventory and spare assets in fleet shop/shipyards/vendor facilities to allow for proactively responding to Engineering needs Effectively work with internal and external stakeholders- including yard crew, Operations team, external vendors, HR, etc. Work Environment: This position works both in an office environment and in outdoor elements. This position spends significant time on company vessels. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Physical Demands: This position involves manual labor, frequently requiring lifting of 25+ lbs. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time. Travel: This position will occasionally travel to other operational sites as needed. Work Schedule: This position generally works 40 hours per week from Mon-Fri. Occasional work outside of normal hours should be expected.
